Top Five List: New Adult Books

To end this New Adult Theme Month, I have a Top Five list with my favourite New Adult books. If you’re looking for recommendations, or just curious about what books I’ve read and loved, keep reading this post! 5. Rule by Jay Crownover. This is a love story I really, truly loved. I loved reading about Shaw, and I loved seeing the change in Rule, and the plot was interesting. The only reason this isn’t higher up on this list is because the writing wasn’t really my cup of tea, and I kept getting annoyed at certain things in it. But I am so in love with these characters and I found myself crying, laughing and yelling right along with them.

4. Afterimage by J. Kowallis. I usually don’t read Dystopias, but this book sounded so unique and interesting that I just had to give it a shot, and I did not regret my decision. It was very unique and original, the world was dark and interesting, and there was a lot of character development. I had some issues with the writing, but I also liked the atmosphere it created in the book, and it really fit the book. It’s definitely my favourite Dystopia ever, and had a given spot on this list!

3. All Lined Up by Cora Carmack. This was one of the first New Adult books I read, and I loved it so, so much. I loved the characters – I related so much to Dallas (and she’s a dancer! Bonus points for her!) and I seriously loved Carson. And there was quite a bit of character development. It was easy to get caught in, and it really had it all – it was sweet, humorous and sexy, and had me swooning and crying and laughing like crazy. (I just realized I really need a reread soon.)

2. Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This is my most recent read on this list. I read it only a few months ago, just before the release of the last book, and immediately fell in love. Ivy was such a badass, fun character, Ren is too swoon-worthy for words (I’m going to marry him, by the way), and let’s not forget Tink. Tink is my favourite character ever – seriously, he’s too much fun! The plot was fast-paced and original, and the romance was amazing – I couldn’t stop fanning myself.

1. The Dreamer by E. J. Mellow. For me, this was an obvious winner, because it’s the one book I keep coming back to, keep recommending to everyone (even if they don’t usually read NA, because seriously, read this book). I really liked reading about Molly, and Dev is so seriously hot and amazing and just wow. Not to mention the plot was original and fast-paced. The dreamland is really a dreamland, it’s incredible, but the really amazing thing was the writing. It was truly what dreams are made of, and made the book feel so real – and made it impossible to not get lost in the book.
