New Adult Book Recommendations + Giveaway

Just like with Young Adult, there are of course many subgenres in New Adult, meaning there’s something for everyone. No matter if you’re looking for a sweet romance, a dark dystopia, or a fantastic fantasy, you’re sure to find something that fits you. In this post, I will recommend my favourite New Adult books from different subgenera! And you get the chance to win your choice of one of my recommendations, so keep reading for the giveaway!

First off, we have a romantic contemporary book that I think everyone needs to read. Wait for You was the first New Adult book I read, and it was what got me into reading the genre in the first place. It’s the first book in a series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, writing as J. Lynn, and all the books are amazing, though the first one is still my favourite. Wait for You is perfect for fans of romance, it’s sweet, heart-breaking and heart-mending all at once. And even though I hope not many people can relate to what she went through, I know many people will be able to relate to the feeling of just moving away from home, that excitement to finally stand on your own two feet, but also the terror of failing. And the romance, of course, is full of tension and excitement. This was an obvious pick.

For a fantasy book, I’ve picked The Dreamer by E. J. Mellow. The Dreamer is a great example of what fantasy should be like; exciting, intriguing and unpredictable, and it keeps you at the edge of your seat throughout. Complete with a kick-ass heroine, swoon-worthy love interest, and a world that is really a dreamland, The Dreamer is a must-read for every self-respecting reader. And as a plus, the romance is absolutely sizzling, and not only will the plot have your heart working overtime, but the romance will have you fanning yourself – and wishing for a Dev of your own.

Next, I have a dystopia that will most likely make you scared of the dark. Afterimage by J. Kowallis was a tough book to get through, not because it wasn’t good – it was amazing – but because it’s very dark, and it’s a world that will give you nightmares. This world is exactly what you don’t want the future to look like, yet it’s captivating and entirely unique. But in this dark, terrifying world, the main character, Reggie, makes it a bit easier to not give in to despair. With her constant optimism, she will make it both easier and harder for the reader to read it. With amazing writing, the author will keep you guessing until the very last page, and you will be glued to the pages!

And those were my recommendations! Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Or do you have any other favourites in the genre? If so, what are they? Let me know in the comments!
