Review: City of Shadows (London Fae #2) by Pippa DaCosta

It had a few flaws, but I enjoyed reading it. I hope there will be a third book in this series, because that ending didn’t really feel like a good ending for a series.

I like Alina

She’s really badass, but she could’ve been more independent. In my opinion, she’s too dependent on Reign. I totally understand why, and I probably would’ve been too, had I been in her shoes, so I’m going to be realistic about it. But she can take care of herself, and she can kick some serious ass, which I love in a heroine. She really wants to do something good before her time runs out, as she thinks she will just cease to exist because she is just the Queen’s Construct. Then after some really big revelations, she becomes scared of herself and what she can do, more so than she was before.

   All of this is totally understandable, but what I like the most is that she grows throughout the book, comes to terms with what she is and, more importantly, figures out who she is.

   I’m actually not sure what I think about Reign and Alina. I like Reign, I really do, but I feel like they just won’t work together. There are so many problems with them being together, that I feel like maybe they just shouldn’t be together. It seems more complicated and difficult than it is worth.

   Then we have Sam. I honestly have no idea what to say about him that won’t be spoilery. I shipped him and Alina at first, but then I didn’t. Let’s just say that my feelings about Sam changed throughout the book.

   The ending was pretty predictable. I’d figured out who the villain was halfway through the book. But, it was an okay ending. It left a lot to be solved in the next book (because there will be a third book, right?!), which was good.

I enjoyed reading it

   To sum it up, I enjoyed reading this book. There could’ve been more focus on the plot, and the ending was a little predictable, but it was a good read, and I would definitely recommend it to fans of Fantasy. Also, there are the Fae, and you all know how much I love reading about faeries.
