Okay, so, February really didn't go according to plan. I read more than I expected to read, but I didn't follow my TBR. There is a really simple explanation to this: I received a lot of ARCs that I needed to prioritize, so I mostly read them. The good news is that I now only have one left (Blood Rose Rebellion), that I'm currently reading.
The good books I've read in February:
Caraval by Stephanie Garber - such a magical, mysterious read! It was far better than I'd expected, and I can already tell this will be one of my favorites of 2017. Review to come!
Whirl by Emma Raveling - another great read! The plot had its flaws, but the main character, Kendra, was absolutely awesome! Check out my review here.
Dare You To by Katie McGarry (reread) - amazing contemporary, one of my favorite romance series. A must read! Check out my review here.
Off the Ice by Julie Cross - really sweet, light, romantic read. Perfect for hockey fans and those who, like me, want to read something lighter in between Fantasy. I received an ARC as part of a blog tour, so my review will be posted in March.
Guardian of Secrets by Brenda Drake - not as good as the first book, but still worth reading. Amazing world and realistic characters make up for what the plot was lacking. I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review. Check out my review here.
RoseBlood by A.G. Howard - a slow start, but after about half the book, things got better and better. The characters are realistic and the author really succeeds in capturing the feel of Phantom of the Opera. My review will be posted sometime in March, so keep a look out!
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco - One of the best mysteries I've ever read! I loved the characters and the setting, and the writing is a bookworm's dream-come-true! Review to be posted.
The disappointing books I've read in February:
Stål by Silvia Avallone - I read this as part of a school assignment and I hated it. It was boring and had way too many changes in perspective, and if it weren't for school, I wouldn't have finished it. I won't be writing a review of it.
To sum February up, I read about as much as I wanted to, but it wasn't the books I planned to read. Hopefully I'll get to reading those in March. Now to my March TBR:
Currently reading:
- Rose Blood Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves
- What Light by Jay Asher
I've been wanting to read both of these books for a really long time, and was excited when I finally got to read. So far, I'm loving both of them so much!
To read:
- Afterimage by J. Kowallis
- Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
- Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
- The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
- Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- By Your Side by Kasie West
- The Animal Under the Fur by E.J. Mellow
And, yes, I realize this is optimistic, yet again, but I'm hoping school will give us an actual break during our break and let me read a lot, and also, I just want to read all these books, and I will certainly try. A lot of different books, too, which is fun. Basically, I feel very optimistic for March, and honestly am so relieved that February is finally over.
