Backlist Shelf Control: Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughters of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor

Backlist Shelf Control is a new weekly feature hosted by The Reading Faery that will run on Fridays, which is dedicated to sharing backlist books that have been on your TBR for too long. Each week, you talk about a backlist book (any book published 2018 or earlier) that you're excited to read and why you want to read it. If you participate, feel free to comment on my post and share your link, so that I can check out your post!

Title: Dreams of Gods and Monsters
Series: Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3
Author: Laini Taylor
Pub. date: April 8th 2014
Publisher: Little, Brown and Company
SynopsisTwo worlds are poised on the brink of a vicious war. By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera's rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her.

When the brutal angel emperor brings his army to the human world, Karou and Akiva are finally reunited - not in love, but in a tentative alliance against their common enemy. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people. And, perhaps, for themselves.

But with even bigger threats on the horizon, are Karou and Akiva strong enough to stand among the gods and monsters?

The New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy comes to a stunning conclusion as - from the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond - humans, chimaera, and seraphim strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy. Why I want to read it:
I read the first two books in the series years ago, and really liked it, but other books got in the way and I forgot about it. I'm too good at leaving series unfinished, no matter how much I loved the first book, and this is one of those examples. But lately I've been thinking about this series, and it's definitely time to reread the series and actually read the last book soon.

Let's chat! What backlist books are on your TBR? What books have been on you to-read list for way too long?
